Javon Thompson
Javon Thompson, a toddler, whose remains were found inside a suitcase this spring, was starved to death by his mother and members of “One Mind Ministries,” after the deluded lunatics concluded the child was a “demon” for refusing to say “amen” after meals, even though the child was just learning basic words.
They stopped feeding him when he was 18 months old.
A witness told homicide detectives Javon was beaten, physically abused, and deprived of food and water.
Javon’s mother, Ria Ramkissoon, and three other members of the ministry have been charged with first-degree murder.

Ria Ramkissoon
An informant told police that after Javon died, one of the members left the boy’s body in a room for more than a week, claiming “God was going to raise Javon from the dead.” Afterward, she placed his body in a suitcase, which she periodically opened and sprayed with disinfectant to mask the odor.
Javon’s grandmother, Seeta Khadan-Newton, said the Maryland Department of Social Services refused to respond to her phone calls saying the baby might be in danger. “They told me it’s not their job,” she said. “They told me I need to get the proof and bring it to them.”
Well… they’ve got proof now. Yet another case of an innocent child, abused and murdered in the name of “god.”

Hope the DA there has more guts than the Cobb County, Georgia DA did in a similar case in 2007.
An equally dangerous cult called Remnant Fellowship found itself under scrutiny when two of its members were arrested, tried and convicted of murdering one of their children when they followed the child-rearing directions of the cult’s leadership, self-anointed “prophetess” Gwen Shamblin and her sycophant lieutenant Tedd Anger. When the members, Joseph and Sonya Smith went to trial, however, Remnant was able to cop a deal with the prosecutors and avoid getting dragged into the murder trial.
As the Church Lady would say “How conVEEEEnient.”
So that twisted woman Gwen Shamblin to this day strolls around from coterie to coterie in her little Southern cult hothouse, blindly followed by about 1100 or so people, many of whom are children who are just as vulnerable to the practical lifestyle excesses Shamblin advances as “God’s Way” .. and who likely have endured abuses that would make you swallow hard.
Sad that it’s only when children die in the horrific ways that cults set up for them that this issue EVER pierces the national conscience.
After all, Britney Spears lack of underwear and the premiere of the next action flick installment at the metroplex are far more important.
Murderous ministries are afoot everywhere. They are as American and home grown as mom, apple pie and McDonalds. The problem is everyone forgets about them when they drop off the front page – except the victims of these cults and those very few activists and ministers who can’t let this evil be forgotten and who do what we can to get people out of these groups and aid them in getting a firm foundation on reality again.

you know everyone has an opinion about the death of javon, let me be the first to say ria, his mother, the accused, lived with me for a brief time right after he was born, i grew up with ria and she has been my best friend since i was 12 im 22 now and she loved that little boy, its sooo sad and extremely tragic what happened to him he was a beautiful baby and certainly didnt deserve what he got, but none of us know exactly what happened as a matter of fact its none of our business. she’s not a devil worshipper nor is she crazy or a amurderer shes just a young girl who was lost and made some really bad decisions and just founf herself in a really bad situation. maybe we as a society should stop pointing our fingers and judging the members in this group and try to understand what led them to the group in the first place, lack of guidance , no support system, i mean she had a loving mother and family but at the end of the day she was still raising that little boy alone and she was scared, i think she just wanted someone to relate to.So for all u great christians out there, im sure your familiar with the text, “let he without sin cast the first stone” we all make mistakes , hers just happened to be alot more detrimental, but she has to live with the fact that her son is gone forever, i think thats punishment enough.
I’m writing on behalf of Pangolin Pictures from New York City. I’m currently helping produce a documentary. We would like to highlight this story, more importantly Ria’s mother Seeta, and Ria together. We’re curious to see the influence a “cult” had on Ria. Your stance is intriguing, “non-judgmental friend”. Please contact as well. But we were inquiring contact information for Ria and Seeta actually.
The documentary is not meant to entertain, it’s to highlight and educate; to inspire and prevent. This story, as tragic as it is, has the power to do that.
Sean you are just a gold digger. You are not trying to help anyone but yourself.
